The Arts Council of Moore County is pleased to announce a newly created visual arts program for Moore County children ages 8-18 called ArtSmart. This new program will be located at 130 W. Pennsylvania Avenue in the Belvedere Plaza in downtown Southern Pines.

Student in a sculpture workshopThe ArtSmart program will be a series of visual art classes with the goal to help all children find their creative voice by providing quality, comprehensive visual art instruction. ArtSmart's small class size, coupled with targeted age groups, allow the instructors more opportunity to tailor their lessons to the various skill levels of each student. No prior art education is required to enroll in the classes, which will be categorized by age. The classes will be offered Monday through Thursday in such subjects as drawing, painting, sculpture and various other mediums. The next sessions of classes are as follows:

THE COMMEDIA PRINCESS AND THE PEA
Performed by the Tarradiddle Players
Sunday, November 7, 2010 at 4 p.m.
How can you tell if someone is really, truly a princess? In this funny, fast-paced show, the Tarradiddle Players put a slapstick spin on Hans Christian Andersen's classic fairy tale. The lonely Prince wants to find someone to marry, but potential princesses must first get past his mother the Queen and her long list of tests. Will any of them be royal enough? With its roots in the humorous, physical acting style of Italian Commedia dell'arte, this production is pure fun.
